IMPACT CIRCLES

Elevating and connecting new reference models with vulnerable girls to amplify their education focused dreams

Every year we work with + 1.500 girls and young women from ten different peri-urban in Nampula (north of Mozambique) to keep them in school and develop changemaker skills.

GIRL MOVE ACADEMY WINNER OF THE 2021 UNESCO PRIZE

for Girls and Women's Education

Award-winning methodology with a systemic approach that expands access to education and accelerates positions of female leadership, based on gamechanging principles for new leadership.

Each Girl MOVER is activated as a role model and mentors 30 adolescent girls, aiming to keep them in school and boost their academic path.

They meet in a safe space twice a week, following a gamified skills and literacy curriculum. They share stories, building a strong intergenerational relationship.

At the end of the program, adolescent girls are more confident and prepared to pursue their educational path, averting child marriage and early pregnancies.

Community-focused action, with mentors and mentees identifying how they can contribute to community development as agents of change.

Experiential approaches and reflective practices that emphasize active participation, hands-on learning, and real-world problem-solving.

Crafting and sharing stories focused on their education dreams to elevate mentors & mentees as mutual role models.

OUR IMPACT CASE STUDY

Innovating and expanding
the foundational elements
of the "Safe Space"
Population Council
methodology

Many interventions are aimed at reducing risks for girls and expanding their opportunities revolving around the concept of "safe space". Following the best practises outlined by the Population Council's Girl-Centered program design, "Safe spaces model". Which emphasizes key elements, such as: a safe space, friends, mentors, family and content - Girl MOVE, with in the Impact Circles, adopted this approach early on. Over time, through experience and innovation, it expanded upon these foundational elements.

From a programmatic to a systemic approach

After being recognized by UNESCO, Girl MOVE was invited by the Ministry of Education to adapt its disruptive Mentorship methodology to In school Mentoring Program to foster vocational and changemaking skills.

"At Girl MOVE, I learned that the rules of the game can be different and that I can be the one to change them. Together, with my sisters, we have the power and duty to write a different story."
